It is no secret that N.I.A. Kids prepares the youth and teens in the program for the next level. Nia Simone is the daughter and protege of our founder, LaTara Thompkins. She has been a part of N.I.A. Kids her entire life and has received excellent training in the arts.
Nia has an amazingly beautiful, anointed voice. In November 2018, she was selected as a finalist in a vocal competition by Jenesse Center in Los Angeles.
This is how she got the amazing opportunity to attend the Oscars. Through Jenesse Center and Jeneration J, the finalists and CEO of the organization were invited to attend the Oscars and walk the Red Carpet!
Nia Simone took full advantage of the opportunity to walk the Red Carpet. This was a really great opportunity and experience for her and all of the finalists. They were all inspired to continue to reach for the stars to realize their dreams.
Among the many highlights of the evening, Nia Simone met Michael B. Jordan. She said he was super nice and she was amazed at how all of the celebrities were just "normal people." Other celebrities she met and had opportunities to take photos with were Meagan Good, Samuel L. Jackson, Laura Harrier, and Amandla Stenberg. Oh yeah, and to top it all of, Michael B. Jordan kissed her on the cheek.
Nia Simone is truly an up and coming artist. She takes her talent seriously and is working hard to develop as an artist and learn all that she can on her journey. Nia Simone is a native of Dallas, TX and is a sophomore at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She can be found on her growing Instagram page @realniasimone.
