Our History

N.I.A. Kids Youth Service Organization was incorporated as a
non-profit organization in the state of Texas in December of 2005
and was approved as an independent 501(c)(3) in November 2006.
The organization was founded by LaTara Thompkins, a DeSoto
resident and business owner who saw a need in the community to
provide a safe environment for youth during the after school and
non-school hours.  N.I.A. Kids Center for the Performing Arts
debuted their premier production on April 6, 2007 titled “N.I.A. Kids
Got Somethin’ to Say,” written and directed by Selmore Haines.

N.I.A. Kids Youth Service Organization is governed by a Board of
Directors consisting of community and business leaders.  The Board
of Directors provides support and decision making as a board;
assists with implementing and evaluating the N.I.A. Kids program;
and provides support in establishing partnerships and sponsorships
for N.I.A. Kids.
