Class Descriptions and Fees:
Theatre Dance
Students are introduced to the musical theatre world of drama and dance including jazz, modern dance, and basic ballet. This class introduces students to choreography, staging and performance techniques. Students perform high- energy, “Broadway Show” – like performances throughout the year at various venues and productions.
Beginner : ages 7 & up
Intermediate: ages 7 & up – performance dance experience required; N.I.A. Kids staff will determine placement.

Drama
Students begin by learning the basic elements of theatre performance through improvisation and classic theatre games. Students learn how to analyze characters and how to tap into a variety of emotions that make a great actor GREAT! This class helps to develop self-discipline, self-confidence, and self-awareness.
Beginner: ages 6 & up
Intermediate: ages 8 & up – acting experience required; N.I.A. Kids staff will determine placement.

Teen Drama Class (ages 12 – 18)
This class teaches students the basics of acting. Students are introduced to a variety of components essential to becoming a great actor and/or speaker: character analysis, vocal projection, enunciation, and stage presence to name a few. Students find their inner voice and develop their confidence, communication, and teamwork skills. This class can lead to a full-blown performance or a series of scenes for performance.

Teen Dance Choreography and Production
In this class, students incorporate drama, music, and various forms of dance that culminate into musical theatre performances. Students learn choreography, staging and performance techniques for high energy, “Broadway Show” – like performances. Students perform throughout the year at various venues and productions.

Lyrical/Praise Dance
Lyrical dance is a blend of ballet and jazz dance. In this class, choreography is inspired by the words/lyrics of song. Students will learn routines to a variety of songs that inspire movement and expression. Students will have the opportunity to perform throughout the year.

Mime
Mime teaches the students how to show creative expression, movement, and gestures to song. Students learn how to listen to lyrics of a song and create gestures, movement and facial expressions, that inspire and move the audience. In this class students are allowed to work as a team and use their creativity to choreograph and prepare performances.

Visual Arts
This class exposes students to a variety of art forms. Students create works that are primarily visual in nature, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and crafts. This class allows students to creatively explore their thoughts, feelings, and perspectives and offers inspiration on unique ways to capture it.

African Dance (Beginner/Intermediate- Children, teens, adults)
Students learn West African Dances from Senegal, Mali, and Guinea. The class begins with a 15 minute warm-up, and progresses to energetic dancing.
$40/month or $12/class
African Dance (Teens & Adults)
This is a multi-level class; advanced beginner level dancers and up. Come and learn traditional dances, rhythms, and songs from Senegal and Guinea, West Africa. Class warm-up includes working on core strength, flexibility, stamina, grounded-ness and rhythmic sensibility.
$40/month or $12/class
Vocal Choir
The N.I.A. Kids Vocal Choir sings a wide variety of music. Students learn proper breathing techniques, vocal control, and performance. Students learn how to listen for parts and how to hold harmonies during group vocal selections. Students perform at various venues and productions throughout the year. This is a great class for solo performers.

Teen Vocal Class
This class focuses on clarity and brightness of tone, harmonies, plus performance skills. Students perform at various venues and productions throughout the year. This is a great class for solo performers.
$25 for 30 min; $40 for 1 hour
Hip Hop Dance
Students learn styles of Hip Hop. They learn how to identify different rhythms and styles of music, including R & B, Hip Hop, and Jazz. Students gain enhanced control of their movements and refine their sense of rhythm.

Musical Theatre Class 5-7 year olds
This class is for the “triple threat”….a dancer, singer, and actor. In this class students are introduced to a variety of dance forms including basic ballet, modern and jazz. Students learn choreography to a variety of music and incorporate acting and singing into their performance(s). Students perform at various venues and productions throughout the year.
Private Vocal Lessons
30 minute or 1 hour private session(s) focuses on vocal performance, sight reading, breathing technique, and vocal control.
$25 for 30 min; $40 for 1 hour
(4 session commitment)
Beginner Piano
This is a private lesson that introduces the student to the piano basics of hand placement, sight reading, and simple chords. In this class, the student is free to focus on the simple, easy consistencies of the scale and develops, a positive sense of accomplishment as s/he progresses to the next level. Students will be showcased in an end of year program recital.
$25 for 30 min; $40 for 1 hour
(4 session commitment)
If you desire to enroll in more than one class (discipline), one discipline is the regular fee; any 2nd discipline is only an additional $15 per month. Any 3rd discipline is only an additional $10/month.
